2010 Aussie Open Tennis Draft

So it’s Grand Slam Tennis Time so me and 5 buddies are again drafting 9 man squads (54 total players picked) to see who picks the best team.  Unlike in many recent slams, there is no handicap for this Aussie Open and every player is available.  In recent years, with 5 or 6 guys drafting, we’ve had to drop or severely handicap a couple guys (Fed, Nadal, Djok, etc…) since they were far above their peers.

But with Fed clearly dropping back to the pack a bit at age 28 now, and Nadal having a hard time being 100% physically, combined with the strong play of Del Potro, Davydenko, and of course still Murray and Djok, we all agreed there was no need for any special conditions.  The draft is conducted by email…we are 1 pick into the 3rd round…so far the order has gone like this:

1) Fed…2) Del Potro…3) Nadal…4) Djok…5) Murray (Todd)…6) A Rod…7) Davydenko…8) Verdasco (Todd)…9) Cilic…10) Soderling…11) Tsonga…12) Stepanek…13) Wawrinka…

Stay tuned for more updates as the draft progresses, as well as a preview after the draw comes out.

  1. Please don’t take this the wrong way. I think your overall ideas are fine but you might want to put a little more thought into your next posts. I say this becuase it seems like your writing style has gone downhill a bit as opposed to your previous posts. – C.
