Calvin Johnson – Another Monster Year

Calvin Johnson now has 1,257 yds on 73 recs after 11 games. This stands tied with Mike Wallace in 2010 for 176th on the single season yardage list, with 5 gms to go. With just another 100 yds in game 12, he’s at the 90th best yardage season. He projects to 1,828 yds for 16 gms, just 20 yds behind #1 all-time by Jerry Rice in 1995 – 1,848 yds. Last year CJ ended up at 1,681 yds, good for 7th all-time.
A lot would have to go right still for him to end up at #1 or 2 (#2 is Issac Bruce, also 1995, with 1,781 yds)…He’s on the injury report every week with nagging knee/thumb issues but still plays. His QB has to stay healthy, but Stafford looked like a throwback gunslinger Thanksgiving going for 441 vs. the Texans Def, so hopefully he can keep this up. Just always fun to watch a rare athletic dominator in his prime, accumulating the Hall-of-Fame resume game by game, season by season…
